More Than a Language Trip

Martinique gives students an extraordinary opportunity to take language and cultural learning beyond the classroom. Located in the French Caribbean, the island brings together French and Creole influences with a distinct Caribbean identity shaped by centuries of history, migration, tradition, and cultural exchange.

Students learn through experience as they participate in language classes, meet local students, explore historic sites, discover Creole traditions, and engage with the island's natural environment.

For students studying French, Martinique provides the added benefit of encountering French throughout daily life. Students studying German, Italian, Mandarin, or Spanish participate in dedicated language instruction while sharing the same cultural experiences with their classmates.

This makes the program especially exciting for schools with multiple World Language programs, allowing students studying different languages to travel together as one school community.

megaphone icon

Martinique offers students a completely different perspective on the French-speaking world.

French is part of daily life, but Martinique also has its own distinctive Creole culture, traditions, cuisine, history, music, and identity. Students discover that language does not belong to just one country or one culture.

For French students in particular, this creates a powerful opportunity to experience the diversity of the Francophone world while using and hearing French outside the classroom.

For students studying other languages, Martinique becomes the cultural setting for an international learning experience combining dedicated language instruction with exploration, exchange, and global connection.

🌎 ONE TRIP. MULTIPLE LANGUAGES.

Bring Your World Language Department Together

Choose from:

French • German • Italian • Mandarin • Spanish

Students participate in language instruction in their selected language while experiencing the cultural itinerary together.

That means a school doesn't have to choose between its French, Spanish, German, Italian, or Mandarin programs. Students from multiple language classes can participate in the same international experience while pursuing their own language-learning goals.

Language Learning Includes:

✔ 12 hours of language instruction

✔ Conversational and practical communication focus

✔ Small-group learning environment

✔ Qualified language instructors

✔ Opportunities to build speaking and listening confidence

✔ Cultural learning beyond the traditional classroom
